Construction Update
Written by Ted Tait on May 3, 2024
The base construction is substantially complete and it is looking great!
Outside lighting has been added, including the all important “On Air” light!
The inside is shaping up nicely as well, with shelves for lots of LP’s and CD’s
We even have curtains on the window!
As the dust settles, we can start moving our equipment in and start wiring and testing. We’re excited to get to this phase of the project.
Part of the plan for this new studio are several backup systems to allow us to continue broadcasting during bad weather or emergencies. The power failure earlier this week reminded us how important these backups will be. We plan to have a UPS and generator to handle power failures at the new location, as well as two internet providers in case one of them fails. We are trying to make a robust system that will keep us on air.
June 1 marks the official start to Hurricane season and we are planning to be ready. If your power and internet fail, be sure to keep a portable radio handy with batteries so you can tune to 88.1FM and get important information. We are working with the town to make sure they provide emergency information to WWER so that we can pass it on to you.
