Honoring Charlie Wilson
Written by Ted Tait on October 11, 2020
Dear Listeners,
As many of you already know, our Operations Manager Charlie Wilson passed away suddenly just over a month ago. Since then, we have been thinking about how to honor Charlie and all the work he did for us. To that end, here is what we have planned…
- Starting tonight (Sunday) at 9PM and again Wednesday at 11PM, we will run one of Charlie’s old shows each week in the old Oasis time slot. This week I have chosen The Tiki Lounge, but other weeks it will be any of the shows he did. Charlie had a lot of show ideas, and this will be a way to spotlight his work.
- On Monday at 8PM we will air the Porch Talk interview I did with Charlie before WWER launched. We recorded it but it never aired. I decided it was time to run it.
- We are also going to honor Charlie with a flag…. The King George-Dahlgren Rotary Club is hosting Flags for Heroes this fall from October 31 through November 14, 2020. The Rotary will display 200 American flags at the King George Courthouse along Kings Highway. This patriotic display allows the community to honor our own special hero. We will honor Charlie with a flag. Flags will be installed starting 9 am on October 31st by the King George Courthouse. For more information about the Flags for Heroes event, please visit https://kgdflagsforheroes.org.
Charlie will be greatly missed by everyone at WWER.
