New volunteers

We had a nice meeting last Saturday with new and existing volunteers.   A number of ideas were tossed around, including interest in broadcasting Drifter games.  That’s something that we have always been interested in doing, and now we have a few people gearing up to help make it happen.  If you would like to join them, let me know and I can put you in touch.

Also during our meeting, I expressed our desire to be present and visible at more events and activities.  For some events that might mean a table or booth.  It also might mean recording interviews with attendees, or even broadcasting live from the event.  The main thing we need to make it happen is a volunteer coordinator to make sure we have volunteers lined up to man the booth or recording the interviews.  Somebody who can “herd the cats”, so to speak!  We’re still looking for this person, so please contact me if you are interested.

Training – If you would like to be trained on how to use the studio for recording, editing and producing shows, please let me know.  We are looking for more technical help.  I plan to conduct several training sessions in the near future, so get in touch if you wish to attend.

• Show producers and hosts.  We have several talk shows that need more help:  
  • Porch Talk – Interviews with friends and neighbors. 
    “Getting to know you”
  • Town Matters – Town business.  Interviews with town staff, council members, the mayor about what is going on
  • Talk of the Town – Fun things to see and do in and around Colonial Beach.  Interview the owners of new restaurants, shops, festival planners, etc.
